SOUTHAMPTON has been hit by a smattering of snow as temperatures plummet.
The city and surrounding areas enjoyed a brief flurry of snow earlier this afternoon.
People in Bitterne, Hedge End, and West End are just a handful of residents who spotted the white stuff.

This comes after a yellow weather warning for snow and ice was issued for the city today.

The national weather service warned that some roads and railways are likely to be affected by longer journey times by road, bus, and train.
And some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths are also to be expected.
