SMOKE was seen billowing from a warehouse as a fire ripped through the building this morning.

Fire crews from across Hampshire tackled the blaze at a Whiteley warehouse in the early hours.

The call came after smoke was seen coming through the shutter doors of the building in Solent Way after 4.30am.

Eight fire engines were in attendance at the height of the incident and crews were faced with heavy smoke logging throughout the building.

The smoke was eventually cleared and the fire was extinguished.

Crews will return later for a re-inspection.
