GUSHING water has poured down a Southampton road for days due to a leak.
The constant stream of water has been spotted on Gainsford Road, and has been leaking since Monday, December 19.
It comes as thousands of homes have been left without water this week due to issues with Southern Water.
Local Peartree resident Crystal Rollett said she first saw the leak on Monday, but assumed the flowing water was due to heavy rainfall.
But when the water continued to flow the next day, she contacted Southern Water.
"I called them on Tuesday and they told me they were aware and someone has reported it.
"I haven't been home all the time so I can't say they haven't been out to see it, but I can tell you it's still leaking."
Last night, Southern Water was forced top open temporary water stations as residents across Hampshire were left with low water pressure or no water at all.
This is due to demand being out surpassed by supply due to leaks caused by the drop in temperatures.
Around 24,000 properties have been affected in areas such as SO16, SO18, SO19, SO21, SO22, SO30, SO31, SO42, SO43, SO45, SO50, SO51, SO51, and SO53.
A Southern Water spokesperson said: “Our customers are vital eyes-on-the-ground for leaks and we are aware of the leak on Gainsford Road, Southampton.
"Freeze/thaw has had a major impact on our network including many key mains which contain our biggest pipes.
"We have 55 teams working day and night locating and fixing leaks.
"Our priority is to tackle the biggest leaks first as that will make the biggest positive difference on our network, helping us to get our customers in Hampshire back into water supply as quickly as possible.
"We will fix every leak reported.”
