A SOUTHAMPTON camera store offering buyers specialist advice said it has adapted to the changing world.
Matt Sanders, store manager at London Camera Exchange, labelled the photography store’s specialist advice as the key to the store’s success in a rapidly changing world.
Mr Sanders - which has two branches on Civic Road and the High Street - is a “survivor” as it has “adapted successfully” to the changing world.
It has built a solid customer base which has helped the store to keep its doors open.
Speaking to the Echo, Mr Sanders said the store never pressures customers.
He said: “We are photographic enthusiasts and we don’t pressure sell.
“We offer unbiased advice, and we will listen to the customer’s needs, and we do offer trade-ins.”
He added: “The major difference for us is that we are one of the few cameras specialist shops still remaining the country."

Mr Sanders said newer cameras allow for a lot more control and flexibility which puts the user in full control of what they want to get out of a picture.
He said: “You get more creative control and it allows for nice and better results than smartphones.
“As good as [smart phones] are, there are limits to what they can get depending on subjects or light conditions.”
Over the pandemic, the store developed its online presence and as a result, has found a new way of connecting with different customers.

Mr Sanders said: “A lot of those traditional customers have adapted themselves and are quite internet savvy and keen to engage with the internet age.
“In general people are pleasantly surprised that there’s a company like this”.
London Camera Exchange is one of the venues that shoppers are being encouraged to support as part of Visit Southampton's Christmas giveaway.
When shoppers support local businesses they are signing up for the competition which could see them win one of 25 prizes.
