Peek inside some of Hampshire’s abandoned buildings ventured into by a faceless explorer.
The unnamed explorer goes by UrbanXplor and runs a website and social media pages to document their creepy findings.
The page has a large following, with over 1,500 people following the page on Facebook alone, thanks to the documentation of abandoned sites, including those in and around Southampton.
Although the pictures are fascinating to look at, it’s important to remember the danger of urban exploration which can also be illegal.
However, UrbanXplor claims to not break the law.
Here’s what the enthusiastic explorer found in Southampton.
Eastleigh Police Station
Originally built in 1924 and closed in March 2019, this police station covered a very large area including Eastleigh, Chandlers Ford, Romsey and the surrounding villages for nearly a century.
More rural stations closed one after the other and the area became too big, so a larger station was built.
Bargate Shopping Centre
Before the centre was demolished to make way for flats (which are currently being built) it was a hub of shopping activity.

The building sadly stood empty and unused for several years, making it the perfect location for this explorer.
It was originally built in 1989 and was a unique shopping centre thanks to the addition of a Sega Park, internet cafe, and bowling alleys, among many shops.
Paynes Road House, Millbrook
The anonymous adventurer paid a visit to this property in 2016.
According to UrbanXplor, there were no floors in this building as it was completely stripped out.

They continued: “There were over eight fireplaces, all of which were differently designed. Everything was removed except light shades and fireplaces.
“We noticed a path which led us to a really creepy looking shed. We went inside the shed only to find it was full of unwanted junk and a large amount of cobwebs.”
