Strikes by Border Force staff at airports across the country will not affect Southampton Airport.

Around 1,000 Border Force staff are staging the first of a series of strikes, which started over the Christmas weekend and will continue from December 28 to 31.

However, Southampton Airport in Eastleigh will not be hit by the strikes.

A spokesperson confirmed: “The Border Force strike is not happening at Southampton.”

ABP is also unaffected.

An ABP spokesperson said "We are not directly impacted by the current programme of Border Force industrial action at any of our ports. We continue to monitor developments in the dispute and liaise with Border Force and the Department of Transport on contingency planning."

PCS Union members will be holding picket lines at Gatwick Airport, Newhaven, and Heathrow Airport on December 28, and at Glasgow Airport on December 30.

Border Force is the latest sector to stage industrial action, following in the footsteps of rail and postal workers, among many more.
