A SOUTHAMPTON-based LGBT charity welcomed people "with open arms" during a Christmas Day lunch.
More than 30 people found a place of “warmth and acceptance” as Southampton’s People Pride hosted its annual Christmas lunch.
Taking place at the Edmund Kell Unitarian Church in Bellevue Road it catered for people who would otherwise be alone – whether from the LGBTQ community or not.
Running the event, Jake Radwell, said: “The beautiful thing about Christmas Day is that we had a load of LBTQ folks that would have anywhere else to go because either they come from kicked out of homes or didn’t want to be in unfriendly homes for Christmas.
“But we also had a lot of elderly people who didn’t have anywhere else to go who didn’t mind spending their Christmas with them.”
Jake added: “This is what People’s Pride is all about”.

The lunch happened with the help of many private supporters and companies such as John Lewis & Partners and the Fine Brownie Company.
Adding to that, around a dozen people wrapped up their sleeves to help cook the food.
There were also donations of personalised candy canes with messages written for those who came.
The day included games and other activities to make sure people enjoyed themselves while treating themselves to Christmas puddings, mince pies and brownies.
Thanking all the volunteers who took part, Jake said; “I honestly can't thank you all enough for your support of me and my mad ideas to support the community all year around.
“You're amazing and I love you all”
Earlier this year, the charity organised Party In The Park in Southampton's Palmerston Park.
In a celebration of tolerance, hundreds gathered to enjoy live music, food and entertainment.
