THE owner of a home and online education business has been given an international award.
Adie Twining, of Tutor Doctor Central Southampton and Salisbury, was named New Franchisee of the Year at Tutor Doctor’s annual conference in Florida.
He was selected from Tutor Doctor’s network of 350 businesses in 16 countries.
As well as achieving “significant financial success”, Mr Twining has given free English language classes to Ukrainian children uprooted from their homes.

He said: “I’m delighted to have been celebrated for my efforts as a new member of the international Tutor Doctor network.
“I have so much pride in the local community and its incredible students. This is a huge thanks to my team of tutors for their unmatched talent, commitment and ambition.
“It’s brilliant to be bringing this award home, not just for Tutor Doctor, but for all local educators who sacrifice so much to inspire and motivate students on a daily basis.
"Through collaborating with local authorities and other passionate education specialists, it’s been a year filled with huge achievements that the whole community should be proud of. To have grown my business and been recognised on the international stage is a moment I will cherish forever.”
Tutor Doctor says it has been called on to provide more support because of the disruption caused to children’s education by the pandemic, with reports suggesting pupils are still eight months behind in learning. The business supports students from primary school age to adults in a range of subjects.
Mr Twining said: “This marks the beginning of another exciting year for Tutor Doctor, and I can’t wait to enter 2023 having been able to celebrate my efforts not only as a part of an international education community, but with families and students in the area.”

A graduate of Southampton University, Mr Twining spent 28 years in corporate jobs at McDonald’s, eventually becoming its director of franchising, before leaving to run his tutoring business.
He said he had the goal of becoming the most successful Tutor Doctor business in the UK.
His franchise has so far delivered more than 4,500 hours of tuition to 140 students.
