SHE'S the daring centenarian whose bucket list dream is about to come true.

Edna Venier has been gifted a helicopter flight for her 100th birthday by staff at her care home and will take off once the weather improves.

The birthday girl was joined by members of her family from near and far for a 100th birthday party in her honour.

Edna, who turned 100 on Monday, also received a card from King Charles III to mark her century celebrations.

Born in Tankerton in Kent, Edna is the eldest of five and acted as a second mother to her siblings, taking them to the beach and caring for them when her own mum was poorly.

She completed her schooling in London's Shepherds Bush, where the family moved for her father's job as a steward in a working men's club.

At the age of 15, Edna moved to Sussex where she discovered a love for nursing while helping polio sufferers convalesce.

She was in London during The Blitz, nursing and looking after her oldest son.

A move to Hampshire, first to a caravan and then a cottage on a farm in Curbridge, led to an idyllic childhood for Edna's children, enjoying the clean air and countryside.

The family lived in Bishop's Waltham for many years where Edna carried out reiki healing on people with cancer and taught adults to read and write. At one time, she also worked at a private school, helping children with dyslexia.

Twice married Edna moved to Poole in later life where she won awards for her beautiful garden and enjoyed walking miles with her dog before a fall left her less mobile. She now lives at Eagles Mount Care Home in Poole.

Throughout her life, Edna loved trips to Swanage and other seaside locations, also holidaying in France.

Edna is mum to Michael, John, Judith, Christopher, and Catherine,  and has seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and a great great grandchild on the way.

She puts the secret of her long life down to a good diet, long walks, and lots of fun.
