A MAN climbed to the roof of his house after being told he was being evicted.
In a dramatic stand-off, Mark Wilson refused to leave when bailiffs turned up at his home on Carpathia Close, West End.
The 43-year-old 's partner told the Echo they had refused to pay rent for two months as a result of a dispute with Hyde Housing Association.
They claim the landlord failed to take adequate action over a series of complaints they have lodged in the past four years.

When bailiffs - acting on a court order granted on Wednesday - arrived at around 1pm, Mr Wilson walked to his loft before climbing to the roof of the semi-detached house.
At the time of writing, he remains on the roof six hours on, despite the rain and strong winds.
His partner, Michael Rooke, 57, said: “I’m shattered and drained because my partner is on that roof and he won’t come down ever and we want help and no one is helping us.
“It’s a nightmare.”
Although the couple hadn't paid rent for two months, they claim the matter was settled in court on Wednesday.
However, Hyde has defended its action, saying they are compliant with a court order.

Speaking to the Echo, a neighbour who is familiar with the couple's situation, said: “I’m quite worried for Mark.
“All of this in the past few years has taken a toll on them.”
In a statement, Matthew Ostler, Hyde’s Head of Income said: “Hyde officers, along with the police, [were] on site at Carpathia Close to enforce a court order for possession and carry out an eviction at one of our homes.
“Unfortunately, one of the tenants [caused] disruption after damaging the property and blocking access.
“As a responsible landlord, we always try to support residents and do everything we can to prevent evictions as these are seen as a last resort.
“Only then do we present to Court so they can make the final decision. This matter was heard in the County Court at Southampton yesterday and our actions are in accordance with the Order made.”
A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said no one was injured in the standoff.
Officers continue to engage with the man and placed a cordon around the property for his and other people's safety.
