A "KIND and inclusive" school has been praised by education watchdogs.

Bursledon Junior School has been rated 'good' in all four categories in its most recently Ofsted inspection.

The school on Long Lane had more than 370 children aged between seven and 11-years-old at the time.

Inspectors found that pupils enjoy going to school, describing the setting as "kind and inclusive" and noting that staff help pupils understand the rules in a fun way.

They said pupils enjoy learning "interesting knowledge and skills" across all subjects, adding that they know staff have "high expectations of what they can do and achieve".

The report said: "Pupils are encouraged to take part in many aspects of school life.

"This includes participating in a range of trips and clubs, including residential visits."

The review also found that the majority of pupils behave "very positively", but found that a small number can sometimes disrupt this.

One child told inspectors: "We help in class and outside with our friends.

"We calm people down and look after them like mums and dads."

The report found that leaders are "ambitious for every pupil", adding that students receive a "broad and balanced" curriculum.

Executive headteacher Kerry Stamp said: "The inspection was a rigorous and challenging few days.

"We had three inspectors and were audited by a fourth inspector who was an HMI (His Majesty the King's Inspector).

"It was clear that the inspection team recognised not only the vast improvements within the last few years, but also the superb outcomes, opportunities and academic progress the children are making within the school.

"I would like to personally thank the amazing staff teams that we across the federation.

"They give their best every day to ensure that our pupils at Bursledon receive the very best care, love, opportunities and experiences - as well as education.

"We are certainly working hard to ensure that our values of love, respect and aspire drive our decisions and we are forever moving closer to achieving our school's vision."
