A fire which destroyed a warehouse used as a cannabis factory is being treated as unexplained, say police.

Huge flames lept into the air sending smoke billowing across Portswood.

Emergency services taped off Portswood Road during the blaze at the warehouse behind Victory Gospel Church on January 15.

Police are yet to determine the exact cause of the fire as the building needs to be made safe before investigators can enter.

As reported by the Echo, officers seized 591 cannabis plants from the site following a raid in December last year.

No one has been arrested and an investigation is ongoing.

However, it is unclear how the fire has impacted police enquiries.
