A PRESCHOOL has been forced to close by education watchdogs following a "complaint".

Treetops Preschool in Hedge End has had its registration suspended by Ofsted.

In a message sent to parents, seen by the Daily Echo, the school said it was "completely shocked", adding that they do not know the details.

The Maunsell Way school told parents that it will remain closed for "a few days or up to six weeks".

The message sent to parents said: "I have been informed by Ofsted that our registration has been suspended after a complaint.

"As you can imagine, we are completely shocked and do not know the details.

"What this means is that we are unable to open tomorrow and must remain closed until Ofsted have completed their review.

"We have been instructed to inform you that this can take a few days or up to six weeks.

"Ofsted have requested your contact details, which we will pass on to them.

"I understand this is a huge blow to parents, children and us too.

"I can assure you I have no concerns regarding Treetops and consider it a safe, caring and fun setting, and I personally am completely shocked and upset by this.

"We have no further details as to what this entails and intend to cooperate fully with Ofsted to resolve this situation.

"As soon as we have any idea when we can resume our sessions we will be in touch."

The Daily Echo has contacted Ofsted and Treetops Preschool for a comment and is waiting for a response.
