The future of the Hythe Ferry remains uncertain despite "godsend" roadworks boosting passenger numbers.
The ferry, which sails to and from Hythe Pier to Town Quay, was pulled back from the brink after facing imminent closure last year.
Talks with a potential new owner offered renewed hope for operators Blue Funnel, along with the ongoing Redbridge Causeway works.
However, managing director Lee Rayment said the future remains unclear.

He said: "The future of the Hythe Ferry is still under review by a potential new operator with others also on the sidelines.
"Unfortunately, processes like this do take time and the current interested company continues to carry out its due diligence which has included a survey of the pier.
"Whilst this process happens, the ferry will continue to operate throughout February, and it is positive to see that our numbers have been helped by the roadworks.
"We will provide a further update to everyone as soon as we are able to do so."
It is hoped the roadworks will continue to boost numbers, with passenger figures jumping from 20 to 50 in recent weeks.
Mr Rayment said: "We've seen new faces and some which have come back to us. It's a shame it's not like this all year round.
"Hopefully we'll hold on to some of them - it certainly shows the interest there is."
