SIXTEEN pets were rescued from a house fire this morning.
Two people with nine dogs and seven cats were rescued from the blaze in Grainger Gardens, Sholing.
Crews from Hightown and St Mary’s raced to the fire which started in a kitchen shortly after 2am this morning.
One person was able to escape before firefighters arrived, but needed rescuing
The fire was put out by firefighters wearing breathing apparatus and using hose reels and jets.
Ventilation fans were also used to clear the smoke from the house while emergency crews spoke to neighbours.

The crews left the scene shortly after 3am.
Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service has advised people to test their smoke alarms weekly and check their cookers and jobs are turned off at night.
