A CORDON has been lifted after forensics searched an area of woodland in Southampton.

Yesterday afternoon, police closed off a wooded area off Mansbridge Road in Swaythling.

Police tape was used to close off the area along a piece of fence that leads to a small clearing in the wooded area.

Forensic teams were seen searching within the woods and carrying plastic bags filled with unknown items.

Two police cars were on the scene yesterday at around 3.30pm when the cordon was set up opposite Ozzy's Kebab Van.

A spokesperson from Hampshire Constabulary said: "We are currently in attendance at an area of woodland near Mansbridge Road in relation to an ongoing police investigation.
