The show, based on the celebrated 1990 film starring Richard Gere and Julia Roberts, centres on the relationship that develops between Vivian Ward, a free-spirited Hollywood prostitute, and Edward Lewis, a wealthy businessman who hires her for a week to be his escort for several business and social functions.
Pretty Woman: The Musical features original music and lyrics by Grammy Award winner and one of the biggest-selling artists of all time Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance, as well as the number one hit Oh, Pretty Woman by Roy Orbison.
It is directed and choreographed by the two-time Tony Award winner Jerry Mitchell.
Pretty Woman: The Musical had its world premiere at Chicago’s Oriental Theatre in March 2018 before transferring to Broadway where it ran at the Nederlander Theatre. The German production opened in Hamburg at the Stage Theater an der Elbe in September 2019 to rave reviews, and a US Tour of the show opened in October 2021.
Pretty Woman began previews at the Piccadilly Theatre in the West End on February 2020, but had to close shortly after its official opening due to Covid. After reopening in 2021, it is still playing to sell out London audiences and is currently booking until June 2023.
The show has won three Broadway Audience Awards, favourite leading actor in a musical, favourite featured actress in a musical and favourite diva performance.
Tickets for Pretty Woman The Musical, which runs from Monday, July 22 to Saturday, July 27, 2024, will go on sale soon.
Casting is yet to be announced.
