MORE than 160 cannabis plants have been seized following a raid at a residential property in Southampton city centre.
Police found numerous rooms with cannabis plants during the raid on Tuesday morning.
Two people have been arrested on suspicion of being involved in the cultivation of cannabis.
The force confirmed on social media that 164 plants were confiscated, however, it did not specify the address.
In a Facebook post, a police spokesperson said: "Yesterday morning, officers raided a cannabis grow contained within a residential property within the city centre of Southampton.
"Upon police attending the address, two individuals were located within the loft space, one of whom was arrested by police on suspicion of being involved in the cultivation of cannabis.
"The address itself had numerous rooms full of cannabis plants, and in total, 164 cannabis plants were dismantled and seized from the address.
"We are pleased to share this result with you, as cannabis growth can cause a variety of different issues within our community.
"Not only does cannabis encourage drug-related crime and violence, but these are also dangerous environments that contain hazardous electrical wiring and chemicals that could, in some cases, be responsible for fires and other incidents that could affect local residents within our community."
Hampshire police has been contacted for more information.
