A MAN has appeared in court charged with causing unnecessary suffering to a dog by having sex with the animal.
Terence Bennett, 65, of Cornwell Close in Rowner, Gosport, has pleaded not guilty to the charge.
It comes after police were called to reports of a "man having sex with a dog" in Cornwell Close, Rowner, Gosport, at around 8pm on October 27 in 2021.

As reported, the dog was seized and taken into the care of kennels. Police previously confirmed the arrest of a man in his 60s.
Bennett is due to face trial at Portsmouth Magistrates' Court on April 3.

He has been charged with causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal.
The charge accuses him of "holding the dog and thrusting into the rear of it in a sexual motion".
Magistrates released him on bail ahead of his trial taking place.
