A SOUTHAMPTON pub has been given the green light to create a new function room for events and parties.
Pub and micro-brewery Brewhouse and Kitchen in Highfield has secured planning approval for a single-story extension.
The venue will create a new paved seating area and relocate its smoking shelter.

It comes after plans were approved by Southampton City Council. The pub said it is "very pleased" the planning application was granted.
A statement said: "Our plan to expand the site, is due to the continued success of the site and demand from our guests, we frequently operate at a maximum capacity, this development of course will add a lot of flexibility to the operation.
"We are currently programming works in our capital schedule, this is a three-year plan, so will be completing this work during this period however there are no plans to complete the works this calendar year."

Two objections were submitted following concerns about parking.
In an open letter to the council, the resident, who was not named, said: "I thought [there] was a lack of reality to the number of cars needing parking places.
"As this is increasing the occupancy of the site, the area at weekends gets crammed with people trying to find places to park meaning residents too struggle to find places, and people park in stupid places, then residents must repark before 8am on Monday in a parking zone area."
However, the plans say there are already 17 more parking spaces on site than required by standards.
There are 25 parking spaces as well as two disabled bays along with four steel hoops for bicycles.
Another resident said: "We already suffer from noise and light pollution in the evenings from the pub's garden area which is surrounded by residential property as this is clearly a residential area and Roselands Gardens is a small quiet no-through road."
The pub has said noise will continue to be managed by staff and that any complaints will be recorded and reviewed.
