For those courageous enough, a new axe-throwing venue is set to open in Southampton.

The city's axe-ceptional players are being challenged to come along to Southampton's new axe-throwing venue, Black Axe Throwing Co, which is opening soon. 

The venue will be the chain's fifth across the UK. Staff will be on the lookout for the next candidate to compete for the title of UK champion.

The best will be invited to compete against axe throwers from the chain’s other branches in Belfast, Edinburgh, Margate and Lancaster.

The sport of axe throwing has grown in popularity over the past few years in the US and Canada.

Those who decide to try it will be able to get advice from instructors who can help with mastering the basic techniques to nail a trick shot.

Head of venues Jake Bland said: "It’s amazing to finally be bringing this to the city. It is our third axe throwing venue launch in just over a year.

"I know that Southampton is going to love it!"

The company will open its venue in April at the Marlands Shopping Centre on Civic Centre Road.
