The Itchen Bridge toll will increase for non-Southampton residents after being approved by Southampton City Council’s cabinet.
The rise of 10p and 20p for off-peak and peak crossing times features in the budget announcement today.
The increase is projected to earn the council an extra £400,000 this year (2023-2024) and £440,000 a year thereafter.

Councillor Eamonn Keogh, cabinet member for transport, said: "It’s very important to reiterate this increase is only for non-residents and all local residents will continue to pay much reduced fees."
Local residents with a SmartCities Card will see no change in toll fees.
A previous consultation showed that four out of five respondents did not want it to happen.
However, council officers said that there were no ‘overriding reasons’ to stop the plans which take effect from April 1.
As well as approving the toll increase, the cabinet also approved plans to scrap concessions for electric vehicles using the bridge.
This will affect more than 200 drivers and save the council just under £60,000 over the next four years.
