A SOUTHAMPTON takeaway has been given a one-out-of-five food hygiene rating.
Foodys in Shirley was given the score after an inspection was carried out by the Food Standards Agency on January 18.
The takeaway, on Shirley Road, serves a range of food such as kebabs, pizzas, nachos, and milkshakes.
Inspectors found that "major improvement was necessary" with the management of food safety.
This includes systems or checks in place to ensure that food sold or served is safe to eat, evidence that staff know about food safety, and the food safety officer has confidence that standards will be maintained in the future.
Inspectors also found that improvement was "necessary" in hygienic food handling, including preparation, cooking, re-heating, cooling and storage.
Improvement was also needed in the cleanliness and condition of the facilities and building.
This means that of Southampton's 175 takeaways with ratings, 117 have ratings of five and none have zero ratings.
The Daily Echo has contacted Foodys for a comment and is waiting for a response.
