A MAN has appeared in court charged with attempted murder over an alleged stabbing.
Police have been investigating reports a man was stabbed at an address in Wimborne.
The alleged incident took place in the Leigh Gardens area at around 9.50pm on Sunday, February 26.
A man aged in his 50s was taken to hospital to treat suspected stab wounds, which were believed to be serious but not life-threatening.
Providing an update on Monday, March 6, a Dorset Police spokesman said a man had been charged with attempted murder and possessing an offensive weapon in a public place.
Kane Bowyer, aged 18 and of The Mill Pond, Holbury, appeared at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, March 4, charged with attempted murder and possessing a machete in a public place.
He did not enter a plea to the allegations during a short hearing.
Bowyer was remanded in custody and he is next due to appear before Winchester Crown Court on Thursday, March 30.
Police have arrested six other people as part of their investigation.
A 15-year-old boy and a 27-year-old man, both from the Wimborne area, were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and released on police bail.
An 18-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman, both from Wimborne, as well as a 35-year-old man from Fordingbridge in Hampshire, were all arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and remain on police bail.
A 38-year-old Wimborne woman who as arrested on suspicion of attempting to pervert the course of justice has also been released on police bail.
