A woman has told a jury she was a "terrified" and "frozen" schoolgirl when her teacher undressed and performed a sexual act on her.

Southampton Crown Court heard teacher Peter Morse, 50, made use of an "imbalance of power" to kiss and coerce the teenage girl.

Morse, of Providence Park, Southampton was teaching at Bitterne Park School in the early 2000s when he made advances towards her, his trial was told on Monday.

Opening the prosecution case, Rose Burns said “there was an imbalance of power” and added: “The victim says that the defendant engaged in sexual acts with her three times before she left school.

“On the first occasion, the defendant took the victim to his house.

“In the bedroom, he took her clothes off and undressed himself.”

The prosecutor said Morse then performed oral sex on the woman, during which she “felt trapped in her body” and “didn’t know how to stop it.”

Jurors heard how the complainant saw Morse's "blue eyes staring at her, which made her skin crawl".

Giving evidence in court, she said: “My body was physically trembling as I was trying to stop it, but I still didn’t want to do anything wrong or to insult him.

“I felt quite frozen in it. There was a conflict in that I was supposed to find it positive, but I was feeling terrified.

“I wasn’t in control of my feelings.”

Burns then told the court how not long after, Morse started “stroking himself through his trousers” and “coerced” the victim to perform oral sex on him in another incident.

Around the same time he kissed her on the lips in his car one evening, the prosecution said.

Morse - who had an 18-year-old girlfriend at the time - invited the complainant to an event where he stripped to a “tiny jockstrap” in front of the girl, the court heard.

Explicit text messages were also sent to the complainant, according to the prosecution.

Morse, of Providence Park, in Bassett, Southampton, denies three charges of engaging in sexual activity with a child while in a position of trust.

The trial continues.
