SOUTHAMPTON teenager, Dawid Such, suffered a severed artery causing him to bleed internally after being stabbed, a jury has been told.

The 19-year-old sustained a deep cut to his lower back, cutting through an artery and causing him to lose "copious" amounts of blood.

Dr Amanda Jeffery, who carried out the post-mortem, said his injuries were "typical of a stab wound with a knife" during a murder trial at Winchester Crown Court on Wednesday.

Dawid had been ambushed by three men while standing on his driveway in Langhorn Road, Southampton, the jury was previously told.

Photos shown in court showed a "pool of blood" on the pavement where the victim later collapsed.

He was pronounced dead around three hours after the attack just after 3pm on July 24, 2022.

Dr Jeffery said that the injury to his back was 11cm deep which cut one of his main arteries as well as causing damage to one of his organs.

She said that four other injuries were found which she said were caused by a knife.

Marks could also be seen on his chest and forehead, thought to be from a "stamp or a kick" of "moderate force".

Dr Jeffery said: "I can't attribute these patterned marks to any medical devices that I am aware of".

The post-mortem showed that Dawid did not have alcohol in his blood at the time of his death, and only a small amount of medication.

On day four of the trial, a large knife was shown to the jury, believed to be the weapon that he was stabbed with.

A second, smaller knife was also shown after it was found on Dawid following the incident.

However, Dr Jeffery said she didn't believe the knife "accounts for the fatal injury because the blade is simply not long enough".

Five men face charges of murder: Cleohertz Onyeasi, 21, of Ellingham View, Dartford; Martin Bell, 46, of Le Marechal Avenue, Bursledon; Jordan Gregory Matthews, 20, of Estridge Close, Bursledon; Ken Mulangala, 20, of Warren Avenue, Southampton; and Donovan Neil Thomas, 35, of Norwood High Street, London.

Billy McIntyre, 23, of Millbrook Road East is accused of assisting an offender.

They deny the allegations against them and the trial continues.
