THE principal of Barton Peveril College has released a statement after police were called to the site.
The college in Chestnut Avenue was put on lockdown following reports of a person with a knife.
Parents say they received messages from their children saying they had been locked in classrooms.
Students have now been released. Some have returned home while others are in lessons.

Principal, Rob Temple, said: "We are aware that there was an incident at the back of the college this afternoon.
"We followed our lockdown procedures to ensure the safety of our college community.
"The police have reassured us that this was an isolated incident and the college campus is safe.
"Lessons are now continuing as planned and the college is open as normal tomorrow."
Police say that no one has been injured and that no weapon has been located.
