A CAR salesman told a court he heard someone shout "get him" moments before a teenager was fatally stabbed.

Michael Cavie, owner of RM Cars in Langhorn Road, said he heard a male voice shout the order moments before the alleged murder of 19-year-old Dawid Such.

Giving evidence during the trial at Winchester Crown Court, Mr Cavie said he was in his office on July 24 last year - the day the stabbing took place.

He told jurors that Dawid had been cleaning an Audi on the driveway opposite the garage when he saw three people appear.

He said: "All you heard was 'get him'. It was a loud shout for me to look up. All you could see is the three lads around the car.

"Then all of a sudden they just moved into him. Around the car. People were kicking him on the floor.

"Someone was getting a hiding. You could see at least two people sticking the boot in."

The jury previously heard Dawid suffered an 11cm deep stab wound to his back and collapsed on the pavement outside RM Cars.

He was rushed to hospital but was pronounced dead around three hours later.

Mr Cavie added: "You're in shock from what you're seeing for a second. I was on the phone onto the police and the ambulance.

"After they've run away, Dawid was coming across the road and all the traffic was stopping.

"He was holding his side. [He] staggered across the road.

"As he's getting there, across the road to the pavement on my side, he's collapsed."

The car salesman said he had a working relationship with Dawid's family.

Ken Mulangala, of Warren Avenue, Southampton is one of five men charged with murder.

Defending the 20-year-old, Nicholas Haggan KC suggested Mr Cavie did not have a clear view.

He told him: "Your recollection is wrong, Mr Cavie. You didn't see what you told the jury you did see."

Mr Cavie accepted that some details of his statement were incorrect but maintained that he could "clearly see everything".

Cleohertz Onyeasi, 21, of Ellingham View, Dartford; Martin Bell, 46, of Le Marechal Avenue, Bursledon; Jordan Gregory Matthews, 20, of Estridge Close, Bursledon; and Donovan Neil Thomas, 35, of Norwood High Street, London are also charged with murder.

Billy McIntyre, 23, of Millbrook Road East is accused of assisting an offender.

All defendants deny the allegations and the trial continues.
