Both sides of the M27 were closed last night as police dealt with a concern for welfare incident.

Officers were called after 5.30pm on Friday after concerns were raised about a person on a bridge over the M27, near the split with the M3.

Closures were put in place in both directions on the motorway between junctions four and five while officers made enquiries.

All bridges in the area were checked however no such individual was located.

Officers reopened the westbound side first before reopening the eastbound side after 6.30pm.
