Southampton City Council has issued over 6,000 fines to people who have dumped litter around the city.
Since the start of enforcement measures which came into force in 2020, more than 6,300 fines have been handed out to litterbugs
In 2020, the city authority partnered with East Hampshire District Council to deploy enforcement officers in known hotspot areas in the area.
Since then, the latest figures show that the city council has spent significantly less when cleaning and disposing of waste since the introduction of the enforcement measures.

The council continues to run a campaign encouraging residents and those visiting to reduce waste, recycle more and to dispose of rubbish in a responsible way.
Councillor Toqeer Kataria, Cabinet Member for Communities and Customer Engagement said: "People are now motivated more than ever before to protect the planet and take pride in the place where they live.
"It’s great to see that the responsible actions of Southampton’s residents, visitors and business owners reflect the statistics we see today.”
