FAMILIES are set to get a boost this Easter as City Catering Southampton is delivering 1,200 food boxes.

The Southampton charity has provided 183,296 meals to the community since the summer of 2020 with the help of funding from Southampton City Council.

The charity provides recipe-led grocery boxes to enable families to enjoy healthy, nutritious, and accessible meals developed by their Food Development Team, as they prepare for another big delivery this Easter.

Martin Orman, chief operating officer, said: “We are extremely passionate about our Cooking at Home initiative and the benefits it provides to local families.

“As a local catering charity, we want to help families tackle holiday hunger with our community project.

“The cost-of-living crisis has only exacerbated the situation and even more families than ever need our help.”

The Cooking at Home boxes are due to be delivered in the week commencing March 27 to school sites by City Catering Southampton’s suppliers and partners, Harvest Fine Foods, ready for onward distribution and collection.

The Easter Cooking at Home boxes will contain all the ingredients needed to make five simple, tasty, family-friendly recipes.

This includes one tomato pot and mascarpone pasta, roasted vegetable and cheese frittata, simple homemade pizza, tuna and sweetcorn jacket melt and easy flatbreads.
