The Big Green Event is returning to Southampton this summer to raise awareness about sustainability.

The event at O2 Guildhall will feature stalls from sustainable businesses and organisations where residents can shop, see the latest green transport solutions and ask experts questions about greener living and climate change.

Organisers have promised that this family-friendly event will have something for all ages.

Visitors will have a chance to explore the co-event, "Big Green Wheels, which hosts green transport options such as electric and hybrid cars.

Cllr Lisa Mitchell, the cabinet member for environment, said: "Hosting Southampton’s Big Green Event for a second year running is so exciting for us all and really helps us underpin the green ambitions of our city.

"Once again, this event promises to be full of ideas and support to help us make changes to live, work, play, and travel more sustainably. There is something for everyone to enjoy, and it is free to attend."

The city council has teamed up with the Southern Sustainability Partnership to host the free event taking place between 11.00am and 3.30pm on Saturday, June 17.

Lynda Daniels, director at the Southern Sustainability Partnership, said: "We are thrilled to be invited back to host this year's event, and we are working hard to get businesses and organisations across the city involved. We cannot wait to welcome residents from across the region to what is shaping up to be a wonderful day out."
