COMMUTERS have been celebrating their short journeys to work this morning, but their joy at the lack of delays could be short-lived.
Cones have disappeared from Redbridge Causeway over the weekend, but roadworks are expected to return any day and continue for several more months.
The £25 million four-bridge refurbishment project on the A35 has seen months of delays and disruption for motorists as phased repairs take place on the road bridge between the New Forest and Southampton.
Long delays are set to continue until at least July, Hampshire County Council has confirmed.
The latest work, which has been in place since January, is part of the final phase of a complete refurbishment of the old concrete bridges that span the River Test.
The next stage of the scheme, due to start in April, will shut the route completely for up to three weekends this summer.
Hour-long delays have become a familiar sight along the road, which is used by 60,000 motorists per day.
