A FLY-TIPPING site has been discovered between Romsey and Wellow.
The site on Ryedown Lane features tyres and cans of oil dumped along the roadside, and was discovered on Saturday, March 25.
In a post on Facebook, Cllr Nick Adams-King called the site “Environmentally harmful and damaging to the road surface.”
He added: “This number of tyres would be hard to disguise while they were being transported. If you saw anyone with tyres and oil, in the area over the last few days, in a van or more likely in a flat bed truck, then do please let me know.
“Whoever did this is not only selfish and criminal, the also clearly have no regard for our environment. They need to be caught and prosecuted. If you can help at all please do so, all information treated in the strictest confidence.”
The discovery of the tip comes as it is announced that Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has plans to increase fines for fly-tipping, with the upper limit increasing from £400 to £1,000.
There are also plans for the Government to support councils in handing out fines to fly-tippers, with councils keeping the fines to re-invest in clean-up and enforcement.
