A MAN has been banned from football matches for using abusive language at a Saints game.
Jamie Cotton was hauled before the court following the offence on March 1 during the Southampton FC vs Grimsby Town match, where Saints lost 2-1.
The 20-year-old used threatening and abusive language in a bid to cause harassment and distress.
Appearing at Southampton Magistrates' Court, he admitted one charge of using threatening and abusive words within the hearing or sight of a person.
Cotton, of Cherwell Crescent, Southampton, was handed a football banning order stopping him from attending any matches for the next three years.
He was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £26 and court costs of £85.
