A MAN accused of sexually assaulting a child told her 'I'm not going to hurt you', a court heard.

David Richman is alleged to have sexually assaulted the girl on several occasions.

Richman, 42, ‘touched’ the girl ‘inappropriately’ on intimate parts of her body, jurors at Southampton Crown Court heard.

In a video interview, the complainant said she felt ‘shocked and scared’ when Richman touched her intimately.

She said: “I felt shocked and scared, and a lot of emotions.

“I was shocked a lot of the time. When he did it, I was really still and didn’t say anything.

“I felt very concerned about what he was doing.”

She went on to say how she could ‘feel his hand’ when he touched her, which felt ‘weird and not right.’

Richman also touched her over her clothes and directly onto her skin, jurors heard.

The complainant also said she didn't feel safe around Richman despite him telling her 'I'm not going to hurt you'.

"I feel bad because I couldn't say no and didn't tell anyone what he was doing," she said.

The court heard how Richman frequently undressed himself in front of her and made her ‘look at his penis.’

The complainant described him ‘holding her wrist’ so she could ‘touch him.’

She said: “He grabbed my hand and made me touch him.

“He was very quiet, and in that silence I could hear his breath shaking.”

Prosecuting, Christopher Wing told jurors they ‘can be sure’ of Richman’s guilt.

Mr Wing said: “The complainant is telling the truth about what happened to her.

“It’s on your evidence that you can be sure of the defendant’s guilt, knowing nothing less will do.

“The Crown says that she is telling the truth and you can be sure the evidence is correct.”

Richman, of Landguard Road in Southampton, denies 10 charges of sexual assault.

The trial continues.
