A man has admitted to sexually assaulting a woman in a car park.

Hardeep Landa assaulted the woman in her 20s in his own vehicle in St Mary’s Road last year.

Landa, 30, appeared before Southampton Crown Court on Tuesday.

He pleaded guilty to one count of assault by penetration and two counts of sexual assault against the woman.

Landa, of Romsey Road in Winchester, was remanded in custody to appear before the same court on May 19 for sentencing.

Detective Constable Emma Cooke said: “We are pleased with the result from court today, and I would like to commend the victim for her courage and bravery throughout the investigation.

“I hope this reassures our communities that we take allegations of rape and sexual offences very seriously – as they are really traumatic and impactive crimes – and that we will work tirelessly to bring offenders to justice.

“We want to reassure anyone who reports incidents of sexual assault and rape to us that they will be believed, and they will be offered specialist support and provided with a specially trained officer."
