The National Education Union (NEU) says its representatives will work with headteachers to make sure Year 11 and Year 13 pupils can still access the classroom on strike days to revise for their upcoming exams.
A statement on their website says: "Given the proximity of our next strike days to the public examinations, the NEU recognises that it is appropriate to seek agreements with head teachers that permit exam year students (year 11 and 13) to attend school on our 27 April and 2 May strike days for revision activities or exam practice.
"The purpose of this dispensation guidance is to minimise disruption to Year 11/13 exam preparation. Only the Government, by coming back to the negotiating table with a much-improved offer, can eliminate that disruption altogether and avert these upcoming strikes.
"The general principle under-pinning this dispensation guidance is that the union will support arrangements that provide the minimum level of teaching staff needed to allow year 11/13 to attend school for supervised revision activities or exam practice."
It adds: "This dispensation to minimise disruption to Year 11 and Year 13 exam preparation is to be negotiated by NEU reps and headteachers as equal partners in making arrangements that work for each school."

Teachers across the UK have taken part in a number of walkouts this year following a long dispute over pay, workloads and funding cuts.
The NEU is asking for a pay rise offer above inflation.
Similarly to nurses, teachers are accusing the government of years of underfunding and pay rises that haven't been keeping up with rising prices.
They are asking for a better deal to address staff shortages in the profession.
