The Southampton Blood Donor Centre is closed for the foreseeable future.
A structural review identified corrosion damage to an area of the roof.
This has resulted in a section of the Coxford Road building, including the donor centre, being closed for renovations.
It is not yet known how long the centre will be closed until the scale of the work is reviewed.

A spokesperson from NHS Blood and Transplant said: “Southampton Donor Centre is temporarily closed to donors. This is to allow for essential renovation work to be completed to the roof of the building.
“It is not currently known when the centre will re-open as investigations are ongoing.
“We are informing donors that their appointment is cancelled and we will be providing alternative appointment options where possible. We appreciate the understanding of our donors at this time.
“This temporary closure will not affect our ability to collect and provide the blood that patients need.”
All affected donors will be informed that their appointment at the centre is cancelled.
Alternative appointments held at mobile sessions in community centres and other donor centres will be offered.
