ICONIC locations across the New Forest feature in a new edition of Monopoly launched today.
Balmer Lawn Hotel, the National Park itself, Rufus Stone, the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu and Exbury Gardens are all represented on the board - on sale today.
The Forest pony, a pig, ice cream sundae and tent are among the tokens in the set that will be used by players to move across the 30 plus landmarks and locations in the Forest.
The Southern Daily Echo features on Fleet Street - the London road famous for once housing Britain's national newspapers.
Members of the public were asked to send in their suggestions for the board after it was announced last year.
"We have been wonderfully spoiled for choice putting this edition,” says Ella Gibbs from Winning Moves UK which has created the game on licence from Hasbro.
“Thank you to everyone who contributed during the public consultation process.”
Michael Clitheroe, general manager at Balmer Lawn - which is hosting the launch - said: “With the New Forest being voted Europe’s best National Park on TripAdvisor last year, we knew it was only a matter of time before the UK’s long-time favourite board game honoured the region this way.
“We’re excited to host the showpiece launch event for the Monopoly: New Forest Edition game – and we will be rolling out the red carpet for Mr Monopoly himself.
“Having a prominent place on the board, it’s only right that Mr Monopoly is treated to some of the best facilities Balmer Lawn has to offer."
As well as all the famous Monopoly multi-coloured property sites being hand over to exclusively New Forest landmarks, the tokens and cards are customised too.
One card sees players rewarded for their pony winning the gruelling annual Point to Point, which takes place in New Forest on Boxing Day.
Carol Seymour, Business Manager of Go New Forest which is represented on the board, said: "Go New Forest is delighted that the New Forest has been chosen to have its very own Monopoly board.
“Monopoly is such a popular game - loved by every generation - and to be able to showcase our wonderful National Park, with its fabulous unique landmarks and highlighting the New Forest code in such a fun and exciting way, means that everyone’s a winner!
“It’s fantastic that the public has been involved in the consultation process too, and want to share their love and knowledge of the forest onto this timeless game.”
The game hits the shops at 10am on Thursday, with WHSmith, Waterstones and Amazon amongst the leading stores stocking the board.
