Motorists can expect more traffic misery as Redbridge Causeway works get underway this week.
The next stage of the long-running refurbishment commences on Monday evening.
Drivers have previously battled queues of traffic as they travel in and out of Southampton.
The coming weeks are expected to be no exception as the north footway and lane one of the A35 will close.
Here’s what you can expect
- North Footway
Closed from May 1 until mid-June 2023.
The north footway of the A35 Redbridge Causeway will be closed 24/7.
A fully signed diversion for pedestrians and cyclists will be in place via the south footway.
- Eastbound A35 - Lane 1
Closed from May 1 until mid-June 2023.
The left-hand lane of the eastbound A35 carriageway will be closed from the approach to the Totton on-slip until the start of the off-slip to Redbridge Roundabout.
The Totton on-slip will be narrowed and shortened, and will merge with the single lane of eastbound A35 traffic in the right-hand lane.

To begin with, the closed lane will be used to provide access and working space for the installation of concrete cover slabs and re-waterproofing works to the north footway.
Once this has been completed, the lane will remain closed while the north sides of the three eastbound bridge decks are re-waterproofed and resurfaced.
Further work will start in mid-June once the above work is completed.
This includes a full 24/7 closure on three weekends.
- Eastbound A35 - Lane 2
Closed from mid-June until late July 2023.
Once the re-waterproofing and resurfacing on the north side of the A35 eastbound carriageway is complete, work will switch to the south side.
The right-hand lane of the eastbound A35 carriageway will be closed from the approach to the Totton on-slip until the start of the off-slip to Redbridge Roundabout, while the south sides of the three eastbound bridge decks are re-waterproofed and resurfaced.
The A35 will be fully closed for up to three weekends from 8pm on Friday to 6am on Monday during this time, weather dependent.
The waterproofing work is dependent on dry weather so may be rescheduled at short notice if needed.
