A Budgens store could open in Woolston if plans are approved.

AJ Woolston Ltd has submitted a planning application to open the store in Centenary Quay.

Should the application be approved, it would be the only Budgens grocery store in the city.

Proposals for the store show that alcohol would be sold at the establishment between the hours of 6am and 12am.

The application submitted to the council states: “A responsible authority or any person, body or business likely to be affected may make representations about the application in writing to the Licencing Team, Southampton & Eastleigh Licencing Partnership, Southampton City Council, Civic Centre, via Public Access or email so as to be received by them between May 26 and June 23, 2023.

“Any representation must relate to at least one of the licencing objectives. Frivolous or vexatious representations are likely to be rejected.”

Were Budgens to open in Woolston, it will be competing against the likes of Lidl and CO-OP.
