Hundreds of people flocked to Eastleigh town centre yesterday for this year's Unwrapped Festival.

People of all ages made the most of the warm and sunny weather on Saturday to enjoy a variety of acts in the open air.

Those feeling creative could get involved with face painting while others simply wanted to enjoy an ice cream in the sun or cool off in the shade.

The day was packed with activities from 10.30am to 4.45pm including a family catwalk, live performances and a disco.

Arts and craft markets and food stalls were also available.

The arts festival organised by The Point runs for two days.

On Saturday it was held on Leigh Road Recreation Ground while on Sunday celebrations will move to Greta Park in Hedge End.

Tamsyn Smith, 45, her husband Stuart, 46, and six-year-old daughter Morgelyn, from Bassett, enjoyed their first year of coming to the festival.

Tamsyn said: “I think it's really good. It's a big free event and lots of different people from the community are involved.

“We had not been before so when we read about it, we just thought we'd come along this year to try it.

“There's lots of different things going on. All the different performances and different stalls and things.”

Gary and Kathy Simmons, from Eastleigh, have been coming for the last two years.

Speaking to the Echo, Kathy, 61, said: “We came last year with our grandchildren.

“There are different acts for different people, and for different age groups which is great.

“There was one particular one that sticks with us, and it was like a farmyard set last year and it was fantastic, so we had to come this year.”

Mandy Grant, 55, from Mansbridge said the event was "brilliant".

“I think when they put stuff on for the children, especially The Point, they do so much for the community.

“It's really good.”
