A New Forest business is seeing its produce fly off the supermarket shelves.
Nourisher, a baby food and drinks manufacturer based in Totton supplies locally-produced products, such as yoghurts, soups and tray meals that are made from scratch on its multiple production lines.
They are then sold to supermarket chains that include both Aldi and Tesco.
Approximately 100 staff members are employed by the company with many living in or near Totton.
The business generates millions of pounds each year through sales – creating products for the likes of Mamia.
Simon Ashburner, Managing Director of Nourisher told the Daily Echo how he’s “proud of what we do.”
He said: “You have to pinch yourself a little bit when you see your products on supermarket shelves.
“There’s something of an underdog mentality with the work that we do because we know it’s a competitive field and you have to stand out.
“We’ve got to be a bit more creative and pick up the phone to suppliers and get people’s attention.”

Simon added: “We have a problem-solving culture; we’re not fazed by setbacks.
“We know this year has been a tough year and inflation has been painful, we’ve had to put our prices up for retailers but by having a comfortable relationship with our suppliers and customers we’re able to work together a lot more.”
David Nugent, Human Resources Manager and Safety Officer praised the company’s family culture as one of the key reasons for their success.
He told the Echo: “From a people point of view, we’re committed to inclusivity and diversity at all levels.
“When you go down into the factory there’s multiple languages being spoken – of course English is the main one – but we have people who work for us who are husband and wife, and brother and sister so it’s a really nice aspect of what we have here.
“People matter and we’re able to help people realise their potential.”
Simon added: “We have a good team here and I’ve been in the business for a long time and the levels of engagement are far above what I’ve seen before.”
