A Southampton couple is about to feature on a BBC show after having their house renovated by a team of interior designers.
Lee Newsham and Darren Wright opened the door to their Bassett home to the team at ‘Your Home Made Perfect’.
The couple, both 44, had their detached house in Hurlingham Gardens fully revamped - a makeover which will be the focus of Tuesday's episode.
The show features homeowners who sign up to have their homes transformed and can see their revamped houses before works start using VR technology.
The pair signed up in the summer of 2021 and after being accepted, discussions began on what the house would look like.
Speaking to the Echo, Lee, an IT project manager, said: “It's a show that we've always watched and loved, and we noticed that they were taking applications for a new series and applied.
“They came to visit us, saw the house, discussed our problems, and then accepted us for the show, which was really good.”
The couple had the opportunity to see their revamped house before committing to plans.
Lee said: “We had to put the goggles on and look around and they reproduced the whole house in VR.
“The show is only focusing on downstairs so, they did the whole house downstairs to its original layout and then the two designs that they came up with.”
Lee said that he and his partner Darren, an actor, enjoyed the show and are looking forward to seeing the episode.
He said: “We weren't influenced, we weren't told to do something we didn't want to do, we were being ourselves. I really enjoyed the whole process.
“It was very genuine, very honest, I would recommend it to anyone to be honest, if they have the opportunity to do so.”
He added: “We're not allowed to see the show before it's aired. Now that we've seen some of the trailers at the end of Tuesday's episode for our episode that was the first bit of excitement.
“Then a couple of teaser trailers have been released now, which looks so cool so we’re looking forward to seeing it.”
Your Home Made Perfect airs at 8pm on Tuesday on BBC Two.
