NILE RODGERS and Chic delighted fans at Broadlands Estate on Saturday night with a showstopping performance.

The New York native travelled across the pond to Romsey, kicking-off the first date of his 2023 UK and European tour.

Rodgers delighted the thousands of fans in attendance with memorable hits such as Le Freak, Everybody Dance and Good Times as the songwriter showcased the full extent of his musical work over the years that has seen him collaborate with the likes of David Bowie, Madonna, Duran Duran and Beyonce.

The six-time Grammy Award winner performed 90 minutes worth of hits after DJ, Trevor Nelson and British Band, Soul II Soul took to the stage to entertain fans for nearly four hours before the headline act emerged from backstage at the open-air venue.

Recipient of the 2023 Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, Rodgers took time between songs to interact with the crowd as the 70-year-old proudly stated: “The reason I keep coming back and doing this is because I love doing it and I love you. I’m a two-time cancer survivor and I feel incredibly fortunate to be able to perform for you.”

Dressed in an all-red ensemble Rodgers along with Chic singers Kimberly Davis and Audrey Martells performed non-stop from when they took to the stage at 9pm with Davis and Martells exhibiting their flawless vocal range singing Sister Sledge’s He’s the Greatest Dancer and We are Family, as well as Diana Ross’ – Upside Down, all of which Rodgers co-wrote.

Even Chic drummer, Ralph Rolle had fans jumping up and down as the show drew to a close with a rendition of David Bowie’s – Let’s Dance, that will live long in the memory of all those that attended.

Over the course of his memorable career, Rodgers has sold more than 500 million albums worldwide with an additional 75 million singles.

The extent of Rodgers discography is so overwhelming that in 2014, Rolling Stone wrote: “The full scope of Nile Rodgers’ career is still hard to fathom.”

Having wowed concert goers on Saturday night, Rodgers will next take his setlist to four venues across England before travelling to the Netherlands and Spain, before returning to the UK.
