IT IS the age-old question that has caused rifts within the Southampton community for years.

Weston Shore is one of the very few places within the city that offers waterside access - but is it classed as a beach?

Fondly nicknamed the "Costa-Del-Weston" by some locals, Weston Shore offers residents the chance to walk along the water and enjoy the soothing noise that comes with the sea.

Found on the east side of Southampton, Weston Shore stretches alongside the Solent up to the River Itchen mouth at Woolston.

It offers people the chance to watch the busy water and everchanging activities including the coming and going of cruise and cargo ships.

However, not everyone is as impressed with the area as others with some claiming the area needs a little "TLC".

But this does not answer the aching question - is Weston Shore a beach?

Sure, there is a pebbled front and access to the water, but many do not consider it a beach.

The argument has caused a stir among friends and those on social media.

So, we are going to put the vote to you - the residents of Southampton.
