A TEENAGER has been released on bail after a boy was stabbed in a Southampton neighbourhood.

Yesterday, a 14-year-old boy was arrested after another boy, also 14, was stabbed in the back on Linacre Road in Thornhill. 

The 14-year-old boy from Southampton was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

Police have now confirmed that the arrested teen has been released from custody on conditional bail until October 10.

Emergency services rushed to the road at around 7pm on Sunday, July 9, following reports of a stabbing. 

Daily Echo: Linacre Road, Thornhill

The 14-year-old victim was rushed to hospital with stab wounds to the back.

The incident has raised concerns among the community, with the Thornhill area being described as "lawless". 

A 35-year-old man who lives on Linacre Road told the Daily Echo: "Kids used to be able to play outside but you’re fearful of letting them go outside now.

"My partner’s child is 15, so he’s only a year older than the poor boy who was stabbed.

"This place is quite lawless, it’s not the first time something has happened in the area."

Police were given special stop and search powers for 24 hours following the incident. 

Officers carried out a total of 25 stop and searches in the area. 

As a result, a 25-year-old man and a 58-year-old man from Southampton were also arrested after a car was searched and suspected class A drugs, cash and several mobile phones were found.
