AN ARSONIST has avoided jail after setting fire to cardboard boxes.
Tena Cole appeared in court charged with arson and assaulting a police officer.
The court heard how the 48-year-old set a number of cardboard boxes on fire in an area of Southampton on May 22.
Cole then assaulted a police officer on the same day.
Appearing at Southampton Magistrates' Court, Cola admitted one charge of arson and one charge of assaulting a police officer.
Cole, of no fixed address, was jailed for two months suspended for 12 months, and was ordered to take part in a drug rehabilitation programme for 35 days.
