THE Isle of Wight ferry has been forced to turn back to Southampton after an incident on-board.
The Red Funnel Ferry departing Southampton for East Cowes at 6am on Saturday morning was forced to turn back after a passenger became “distressed”.
It’s unclear as to what caused the incident but two off-duty police officers on-board took control of the situation.

A spokesperson for Red Funnel told the Echo: “There was a distressed passenger on the six o’clock ferry from Southampton to East Cowes.
“Nobody was harmed, and the situation was quickly dealt with as two off-duty police officers travelling on the ferry took control of the situation.
“The 7:30am ferry was briefly delayed before normal service was resumed at 8am.”
Red Funnel have also warned passengers there could be further delays throughout the day due to high winds in Southampton and the Isle of Wight.
